Tamil Nadu Chief Minister launches 23 more mobile X-ray units

As part of the TB free Tamil Nadu -2025 initiative, chief minister M K Stalin launched off 23 mobile X-ray devices to help people get tested for tuberculosis at specialized medical camps held by the state health department.

 

According to the press release the vehicles costing 10.65 crore would scan people in places like congested residential neighborhoods, nursing homes, workplaces, and places where infectious diseases are more likely to spread. In order to optimize treatment outcomes and stop the spread of infection, it is important to identify the illness and begin treatment as soon as possible, 

 

Patients who are diagnosed with the condition will also receive financial aid of Rs 500 in addition to free medical care and counseling. Additionally, health professionals will raise awareness of the condition and its symptoms in the community. The states fleet of TB screening trucks will now consists of 37 vehicles when the 23 extra cars are added. The vehicles can perform X-rays even in locations without power supply. The state has set a goal of performing at least 5 lakh X-rays annually, and the machines are capable of performing up to 10 X-rays every hour. (Times of India, July 02, 2022)
